Ladies Night 2005

On Friday 4th March we enjoyed a grand evening at our annual "Ladies Night".  The venue was The Chieftain Hotel, Inverness and mine host Donnie MacLeod served up the usual sumptuous meal.

Rt.W.M. Bro. Dougie Robertson with his Lady Christabel officiated from the top table with his guests which included P.G.M. Bro. Bob Watt  and his Lady Heather.  The toast "To The Lassies" was proposed by our S.W. Bro. Alasdair MacGillivray.

The evening's music was provided by The Two G's, although ill health meant that "Gill" had to work very hard and do it all herself. This she managed superbly and indeed as our coach was leaving the hotel at 1pm, we could see Gill through the window, still belting out the rock n' roll with much gusto.

Brethren and other benefactors had been extremely kind and there were many prizes in the raffle draw.  Thanks to all concerned.

One of the partygoers' evening out ended somewhat bizarrely, (decorum prevents any naming and shaming here!) for after the coach had dropped himself and his good lady at their abode, they realised that they were locked out of their house!  Chivalry came to the fore as our bold hero gallantly carried the ladders round from the rear of the house to the front and stood with his foot on the bottom rung as his dear lady climbed them to enter an upstairs window.  Sir Galahad was too unsteady on his feet to get up the ladders himself!  What is he like?

Provincial Grand Lodge Annual Visitation

Wednesday 6th April 2005

Our Annual Visitation from P.G.L. saw a large turn-out, in spite of competition from televised cup games and our temple not being half way through it's refurbishment.

Following an alarm, The Rt.W. Substitute P.G.M. Bro. Donald Nicolson and his Office Bearers entered The Lodge, which numbered about 20 Honoured Brethren. They witnessed Bro. Bobbie Milne (son of our P.M., Derek) being passed to the degree of FC.

The work was accomplished in good form, especially as there were some changes to the team at the last minute, due to illness. Due credit to the Brethren who stood-in at the last minute.

The P.G.Secy. in his report, acknowledged the quality of the accounts and stated that The Lodge was in excellent form.

Bro. Frank MacDiarmid was greeted by Rt.W.Sub.P.G.M. Donald Nicolson and our own Rt.W.M. Dougie Robertson and he was presented with a Grand Lodge Of Scotland "Jubilee Certificate" for 50 years service to The Lodge.

Following the address from Rt.W.Bro. Donald Nicolson, he and his deputation retired from The Lodge. Normal business was resumed and concluded. The Lodge was closed in D and AF, where upon all Brethren retired to the anti-room for a very convivial Harmony.
